Glossary: VPS
What is a VPS?
A private section of a physical server, with its own resources and full control over its software.
What it is
One physical server is divided into several virtual ones. Each has its own share of processor, memory and storage, and its own operating system, so it behaves like a separate machine.
Who needs one
A VPS suits developers and businesses running custom software, or those who need settings that standard hosting doesn't allow. Most small business websites don't need one.
What you take on
With an unmanaged VPS, you are responsible for the server: updates, security, backups and fixing problems. If you aren't comfortable with that, managed hosting is usually a better fit.
VPS at Host Dada
Our VPS platform is unmanaged, with full root access, and you can choose your own specification. cPanel is an optional add-on.
