.autos Domain Registrationfrom £23.72/yr

Why Choose a .autos Domain?

The .autos extension launched in 2021 as part of the XYZ Registry's vehicle-focused family, alongside .cars and .car. It was designed specifically for the automotive industry — dealerships, manufacturers, parts suppliers, mechanics, enthusiasts and motoring publications. Unlike the more expensive .cars and .car namespaces, .autos was positioned as the affordable workhorse of the trio, making it accessible to independent garages and small dealerships that want a clearly automotive web address without paying premium pricing.

Ideal for:

  • Independent and franchise car dealerships
  • Used car marketplaces and listing sites
  • Mechanics, body shops and mobile vehicle services
  • Auto parts retailers and aftermarket suppliers
  • Car review blogs, motoring magazines and YouTubers

Things to know:

  • Unrestricted — anyone, anywhere can register a .autos domain, you don't need to prove you're in the motor trade.
  • Operated by XYZ Registry, the same company behind .xyz, .cars, .car, .monster and .quest.
  • Some short, generic or high-value names (like brand or model terms) are reserved as premium and carry higher registry pricing.
  • Renewals are at the standard rate — premium pricing, where it applies, repeats every year.

Frequently asked questions about .autos

Anyone, anywhere. There are no eligibility checks — you don't need to be a registered dealership, mechanic or motor trader. Individuals, small businesses, large corporations and enthusiasts can all register .autos domains on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the registry's standard acceptable use policy.

You can register a .autos domain for between one and ten years in single-year increments at initial registration. You can renew at any point before expiry to extend the registration period, again up to a maximum of ten years total from the renewal date.

The XYZ Registry classifies short, generic or commercially valuable terms as premium names — for example single dictionary words, popular car models or city names. These carry higher wholesale prices set by the registry, and the premium rate applies every year at renewal, not just at registration. Most longer or more specific names are at the standard rate.

Yes. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the EPP authorisation code, and start the inbound transfer with us. The transfer typically completes within five to seven days and adds an extra year to your registration period. The domain must be at least 60 days old and not within 60 days of a previous transfer.

After expiry the domain enters a roughly 30-day grace period during which you can renew at the normal price. After that it moves into a redemption period of around 30 days, where recovery is possible but carries a hefty registry redemption fee. If still unrecovered, the name is released and becomes available for general registration again.
